• All of the dots represents a rough distribution of population density by birth generation.
• Population was aggregated through the U.S. Census Block Groups.
• Dots were only distributed in Block Groups that had Blocks with a population above zero.
• Dots are categorized and colored by birth generation
• Each dot was randomly placed within each U.S. Census Block Group
• Each dot does not actually portray the specific location of where people live. It only suggests the density of the birth generation inside the Block Group.
• For insance, one Generation Z dot at the scale of 1 dot = 25 people means 25 people who are in the Generation Z group live in that area (Block Group). It does not mean 25 Generation Z people live in that one location that the dot is placed on.
• The scale of the dot placement does not represent true total population of the whole area.

• GIS & Tabular data at the United States level, State Level, Urban Area level, and U.S. Census Block Group level were all provided by the National Historical GIS (NHGIS) 2014-2018 American Community Survey, and 2009-2013 American Community Survey (ACS).
• Original age classificaiton of the birth generations were from PEW Research.

Generation Dot Map:

• Dots were randomly generated from each Census Block Group based on the NGHIS 2014-2018 ACS & NHGIS 2009-2013 ACS.
• Basemap and vector tilesets hosting by Mapbox.
